Screen does not fit right into frame

Hello there fellow technicians,

I have a following question, probably you had experienced it as well already.

New screen for iphone 7 doesnt fit right into the frame by the screen connectors. It leaves a little gap instead of perfectly sinking into the frame. If you remove metal plate that hold screen connector in plate it helps. If you force it down and close pentalobes you get a white hue on the screen caused by the pressure of the screen flex cables.

I have experienced this issue several times not and I was wondering if its the quality of new screens (I use original refurbished) or is it something I am not doing right?

UPDATE:

Ran into this issue again but managed to find a real solution. Basically, its the ic (see the picture) on the flex cable of the screen. You need to make sure its on the right position because if its too high it will press metal plate that covers screen connectors on the motherboard. Before you put the metal plate cover that covers the flexes on the screen put it a little bit higher so the flexes stick to it and then slide it down so its in the right position. Good luck!

Thanks, that sorted my problem. As a suggestion to others looking at this post, I would suggest the the gap between the chip device and the edge of the plate should be about 2mm. When I looked at the one I was trying to fit, it was about 0.5-0.8mm and was obviously stopping it sit within the gap on the motherboard.

It sounds like part of the assembly is being stuck on top of shield as you close it

I have the same issue, but instead of all that's happening right now, the sides of the LCD frame won't fit into the phone itself. I put one side in, then I can't get the other side. Any solutions?

I learning how to fix phones. It got me hooked when I first learned to fix my iPhone the first time. I had to replace part in my phone that I couldn't do, (it was too advanced for me at the time) I sent it over to My friend who could help. I get it back and the SIM card tray, the back glass, and the LCD screen protrude slightly out so it doesn't fit flush. I'm not sure how to fix this

Seems like it may be an issue with the screen if you've gotten the same results with different phones / screens. Assuming no frame damage at all (small inconsistencies on the frame can definitely cause a fit issue). I've had OEM screens fit strangely because of a very small piece of the water resistant adhesive used on the 7. Also, Sounds like something could be off with the frame on this one though .

Hi there.

I also have a problem with my new screen not fitting on my iPhone 7plus. I don’t think it has anything to do with the ribbons or the plate but my battery looks bigger then normal. I have had a cracked screen for about a month. But just last night I swapped the screens over and now the left side with the battery won’t clip down. Have you or anyone else encountered this problem before?

When you open the phone place a little piece of tape or make a mark on the metal plate in line with the ic on the original screen when ur placing the plate on the new screen make sure the ribbons and the ic line up with that mark :) simple remove the mark or the tape after

Also when u take the plate try to lift it from the bottom not the top so it doesn't bend or warp where it's stuck down that way the plate is straight and doesn't have bends and kinks in it I use heat to loosen the adhesive then a flat tool to pry it apart not damaging the original screen flexes or the plate itself :)

It sounds like you may be squashing the LCD ribbon cables inbetween the frame and the housing.

Try getting a spudger and guide the ribbon cables inside as you lower the screen into place.

I have noticed that when you assemble the iPhone without the metal that holds the cables in place the screen fits well. When you install the metal the problem appears again.

My 6s plus reassembled nicely except for the bottom. There is a pretty wide space between screen and frame below the home button. It cannot be forced closed. It’s a hard obstruction. Looks like the home button cover sits on top of the charger port housing. The HB plate appears too thick but it’s original. I replaced the screen, moved the HB and cover bracket over to the new screen.

Could the two mounting bosses be too high? Button feels perfect.

where are my experienced friends?

Check the phones not bent and u havent dropped a screw around the charging port, a hard drop sometimes knocks out one of the home button screws.

I have the same problem but a bit different. So I replaced my iPhone 7 screen and everything works but now the screen won't clip in at the top of the frame. Am I doing something wrong?

You need to start from the top. You have to make sure it fits at the top and then clip the rest of the screen in place...
