Refrigerator not cooling during ice making

I've had my lg french door refrigerator for 2 years. It has ran with zero issue in that time. Until yesterday my wife and I manually made ice with trays. Last night I hooked up the ice maker water line so we could use our in door ice maker. Today we noticed that the refrigerator seemed warmer than usual so I checked with a thermometer and it was up to 57 degrees F. We realized that the lights were staying on after we closed the doors and they were extremely hot. I removed the bulbs for the time being. My refrigerator still wouldnt get cold so I opened the door and had my wife hold down the switches on both sides. The fan that blows cold air into the ice maker was blowing a nice steady stream of cold air but the vents in rear of the refrigerator was blowing a very very small amount of cold air. I turned the ice maker off and applied the same test at which point the fridge vents were blowing a nice steady stream of cold air. Closed the doors and the fridge was cold again in 20 minutes. Do I have an issue with my fans not operating properly? Or is it normal for the fridge fan to blow less air into the fridge when the ice maker is running and blowing cold air into the ice maker?

Gregory Lurz, several things could have caused this.

The unit might have been coming out of the defrost cycle.

Most French door models have 2 evaporators-1 in freezer and 1 in fresh food. A valve allows freon to enter 1 evaporator at a time. This cycles every 15 min.

I doubt the ice maker has anything to do with it unless, by pulling out the unit to hook up the ice maker, something got stuck in the condensor fan not allowing it to turn. Condensor fan is located behind the unit next to the water valve.

The door switches on some models are magnetic. Just holding the switch in won't activate all components; the evaporator fan and lights.

If the ice maker is making ice than the temp is fine I freezer. A warm refrigerator and cool freezer could be that freon valve. It's a solenoid located next to the compressor. Replacing this valve requires recovery freon and recharging the system. LG has a 5 or more warranty on the sealed system. Call lg for service. If you mess with it, it could void your warranty.

Hoped this helped.
