Why do I have to choose between Windows or HL-DT-ST DVDRAM at boot?
Hi all,
When I first got my ASUS laptop, it immediately went into Windows 7 after turning it on. For a while now, though, I have to choose from a list of options before it will run Windows 7. The options are:
P0: Windows boot manager
P2: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT51N
Set up
I recently had my computer wiped and Windows 7 reinstalled (because of other issues), but this issue didn't go away. Is there anything I can do so that I don't have to select Windows boot manager every time I turn on my computer?
Note: I have already gone to msconfig and looked at the "Boot" tab. The only option there is Windows 7, the "Set as default" button is grayed out, and turning down the time delay doesn't help.
Thanks in advance!

Do you have a bootable DVD forgotten somewhere in the drive?

You mean a physical DVD? No, it's empty.

Are you familiar with taking devices apart? It would be interesting to see if the problem stops occuring if you disconnect the DVD-drive from the motherboard.

I would have no idea how to do that, but maybe I can look up some videos if it comes to that. I'd prefer not actually having to take anything apart, though, if it can be helped...
