No Calls or Messages

Be it sending or receiving, the phone is incapable of anything related to text messages or calls.

Text messages show as Not Delivered. When trying to make a call, the call screen is quickly flashed and the phone returns to the same menu.

Replaced the screen some time ago, but not the source of the problem, as the phone did not stop sending/receiving calls/texts after it. Later on replaced top microphone. Not sure if it was the cause, but it's the last known modification since it was working properly. Worth mentioning is that although the signal indicator seems to work properly when set up through numbers, when shown through bars, will always show none at all or, when turning on, will show 2 or 3 for a short period of time and reverse to showing none at all. Interesting as well is that Mobile data works perfectly fine.

Have tried:

Turning phone off and on.

Resetting phone through settings.

Flashing phone.

Resetting Network Settings

Turning off 3G

Turning off Mobile Data

Setting to Airplane Mode

Removing SIM and cleaning it

SIM on another phone(Works)

Replacing lower antenna.

Replacing Charging dock.

Replacing upper antenna.

Replacing battery

This... this is absurd. This doesn't make any &&^&^$^ sense. What, does the freakin phone just stop working for no reason outta nowhere?

Please, any tips are appreciated, I don't know what else to do. Could try replacing the top piece with the microphone and the buttons, but come on, where the !&&* is the link between the two?

Have you connected the phone to an iTunes on a PC? Some times your phone carrier sends a phone carrier update.

No phone carrier update available this time.

Try to connect the phone to a laptop or computer and then try to reset the phone. You might lose all your data from the phone but it may help. A better idea is to call the company of the phone and they should be able to tell you the problem.

Apple telling me my phone's problem? Sure.

I'll try resetting through itunes, though.

Well, great. Error 3503 stops me from restoring the phone. Tried the crap from the apple page. No dice, of course. Don't suppose you happen to know a solution for this? I can just see at least 3 hours of my life going away trying to figure out how to get something that might not solve my problem to work.. :/

(May I add that it is fascinating that I have tried restoring this way with 2 different phones, 3 different computers and 2 different internet providers and none have worked)

(Make that 3 different phones. I remember connecting to my sister's mac once and it worked properly...)

Try restoring with 3uTools

http://www.3u.com/

Looks like a very nice tool, but I can never seem to get SHS blob(or something) and it never goes through...

What a pain in the ass.

Finally got 3uTools to work.

Unfortunately, it was to no avail in fixing the network problem.

There is not much I can help you with, except to tell you to buy a new phone. If you spend more and more money on trying to fix the phone then it will end up costing just as much as buying a new one. You don't have to throw it away, though. Use it as an iPod, and download games. I think most people at this point would get a new phone.

Eh, I'm not spending any money on it. I just have this icloud locked phone lying around and swapped parts. I was actually meaning to sell this one, though, which I can't do with a free consciousness now.

I tried removing the volume buttons/mute/upper microphone part considering it was the last modification since the phone was working and it was to no avail. Tried messing around with the antennas, removing one and the other, etc, but the only thing I learned was that neither the top or bottom antenna is used for Mobile Data.

So I picked up yet another phone I had lying around. Switched boards entirely. I gave the lower antenna the benefit of the doubt in that the first replacement might be damaged as well considering the phone was water damaged - but nah - it's the same crap. I put the board in an entirely new case and the problem isn't solved. Considering there's nothing possibly replaceable to fix the issue, I tried to inspect the area around where the lower antenna connects. Compared the two boards that I have, shining a light on it and using a magnifier and all, thinking maybe I could've accidentally scraped it a bit somehow, but guess what - there isn't a nanometer of a difference between the functioning one and the malfunctioning one. It's fascinating.

I can only conclude a spell has been cast on this cursed phone and that it is in fact irreparable by any humanely possible means.

Amid all this, I'm some 10 hours down on my lifetime and not a cent richer. Maybe this is why the blokes who fix this stuff charge so much money for any repairs...

Cheers.
