Error i20 after several drain attempts

Electrolux Dishwasher ESF66860WR

When I start any washing program the drain pump starts running several times for about a minute, then it shows error i20.

Drain pump itself works perfectly, if I add some water in the machine it goes away. I've opened the drain pump just to check, it is clean and looks OK.

I guess there should be water level sensor which may become dirty, but I can't find it.

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?

Thanks in adance for any help!

I purchase this dishwasher and every 3-6 months I have the error code I-205-apparently Westington appliances aren’t what they used to be, I will not purchase another one again. It’s only been three years and it’s time to purchase another dishwasher, I can’t afford not to

For me I20 error was a faulty pressure sensor. I paid a technician $300 to find the problem and replace the pressure sensor. When he removed the sensor he showed me that it was full with food and dirt. I asked him if we could just open it up and clean it but he said that the sensor was very delicate and it’s glued together so it was almost impossible to open it up and remove the dirt. So he replaced it. Like I said that set me back $300. A year passed and the same problem happened again. So I gave it a go. I flipped the dishwasher sideways remove the sensor and try to clean it with a toothpick. Not good enough. I could only remove what was visible and not what was inside the sensor. I use my water flosser which is a pressure washer for your teeth. It worked. A lot of black stuff came out. I also clean the old sensor that I had from the first repair. Dishwasher works like new. :)

I have the same error 20 problem recurring roughly every 6 months. The dishwasher was branded IKEA “FAVORIT 78000 VI1P” and manufactured by Electrolux. Thanks to the advice on this page I got myself a 100ml syringe together with tubing for €5:

To rinse out the sensor, remove the bottom filter to expose the sump. There is a small tunnel at an approximately 10 o’clock position. With the tubing cut down to an appropriate length and inserted as far as possible into this tunnel, rinse liquid through forcefully. I use hot water with dissolved dishwasher tablet and repeat ca. 10 times for good measure. I normally see some gunk floating out after the first couple of rinses.

This is how I solved my i20, I think my wife "stuck" the float when she filled the sump with salt. Water evacuated but the machine never filled with water. First I use a large syringe to remove all of the sump water I could reach then jetted the smaller hole in the evacuation well at the bottom of the machine. It freed up and I was able to run a cleaning cycle to prevent further mishap

I believe this fixed my problem too, has worked for now anyway

I used tube cleaning brush to the same effect

Thank you! Using a 100 ml syringe with a dissolved tab worked for me as well. I left about 12 inches of tube on the syringe, which helps position the tube, which only inserts about an inch or so. Got a glob of junk out after half a dozen pressurized syringes. The syringes I used were from Amazon, two for $8, including the tube, which fit the hole perfectly. Again, thanks for the suggestion!

I have to say a big thank you to all of you! -- I followed these instructions and extracted about half a table spoon of black fatty gunk from the inlet in the sump after about 6-8 pumps of warm water (with tablet dissolved). I used both the syringe (well, actually I a 60 ml ear syringe) as well as the pipe cleaners (the depth of travel is about 300 mm inside the sump inlet). My first attempt gave the i20 error, however I read somewhere else that prefilling the sump with water might improve things - it did! After the clean cycle, I've run three test loads - all AOK. It's worth noting that an AEG technician was here last week and diagnosed this as (and replaced) a faulty pressure sensor - that did nothing to fix the issue. THIS METHOD DOES WORK!

Dmytro Bagaiev the i20 fault code means there is a problem with the drainage time of your dishwasher. Double check the hoses leading to and from the drain pump. Make sure that there are no clogs or other obstruction which may prolong the drain time and check the drain valve.

Hi! Thanks for an answer! I've checked the whole drainig pipeline and it's clean including the valve. Any water added to the machine is drianed out in seconds.

If it drains when you add the water that would mean that your water level sensor works as well. Wonder if you have located that yet.

tarafından

It drains in any case whether there is water or not. The problem is that it can drain, but it does not stop. Could it be that level sensor just signalize that there is still water in the machine? In this case it would indeed not stop draining. I will try to unplug the sensor. Do you know if it will stop drainig and start washing cycle as if there is no water in the machine?

Newer versions have an air trap over the hole leading to the pressure sensor. The purpose of the air trap is to prevent clogging of the pressure sensor. Yet, I was receiving the i20 error.

Turns out, the air trap itself can get clogged. It is easy to remove it by partially unscrewing the screw holding it, pulling the upper part to the right side, then pulling the bottom part out of the pressure sensor hole. Just make sure you don’t damage the gasket.

Rinse the air trap in warm water, and reinstall.
