Please help me resurrect a salvage late 2013 27" iMac

Late 2013 iMac missing HDD, display and RAM. I have a display panel, spare HDDs and compatible RAM in my parts bins. I can't seem to find a straight answer about whether a temperature sensor is needed or not. From what I have read there are possibly two temperature sensors that people talk about, an LCD skin temperature sensor and the HDD temperature sensor. Can anybody shed some light on these two components? Part numbers? Where are they located? Where are they connected?

If I use an Apple PCI-e SSD and third party HDD to set up a fusion drive what parts do I need to keep the fans from spinning like crazy? Which 27" iMacs need a HDD temperature sensor and which ones do not?

I know that OWC sells an HDD adapter that includes a temp sensor but I can't tell if I need it or not.

I am wrapping this up and just wanted to add a few things to the discussion in case anyone else needs the info in the future.

# Without the display panel attached but using an external monitor the iMac would power up as normal and was usable but within a few minutes but the fan would be running at full speed and sounded like a vacuum cleaner.

# I used a WD Green HDD and the Apple PCIe SSD to create a 2.1 TB Fusion drive.

# With the replacement panel attached and an LCD skin temp sensor plugged in but WITHOUT a HDD temp sensor on the WD HDD the fan runs as normal. Usually quiet unless under load and then it speeds up as needed.

# Do the WD HDDs support whatever internal temp data OSX is looking for?

OWC temperature sensor is need unless you have an original Apple drive. The OWC site shows you what you need for several setups.

Do you know anything about an lcd temp sensor? Or whatever the twisted wire is on the back of the panel that can be seen int tear down pics.

Eric, not really. If you are going to remove the LCD, I'd stick anywhere that is not going to give off a lot of heat.

I ordered the OWC adpater. Now I just need to figure out which models have the LCD temp sensor and which ones do not. The iMac was given to me with the display panel already removed. I do not have any of the old parts. My replacement panel ((LM270WQ1 (SD)(F1)) does not have a sensor attached. I don't see it included on any of the replacement panels that are listed online either. The only reference I see to one is in a comment in one of the iFixit guides and the apple PN. None of the guides mention having to disconnect or move the sensor from the old panel to the replacement. if I had the old display available to me it would seem pretty straight forward.

The logic board wants a sensor plugged into that slot. What it's sensing is not that important really it just needs the void in it's life to be filled. I have that and a couple other cables on the way. It’s just weird that it’s not mentioned in any of the guides. The iMac showed up today so I will actually be able to see what I have to work with.
