Sunken home button on iPad mini

I have purchase an iPad screen replacement from iFixit and installed it. It worked fine for a day or so but then the home button got sunken in when pushed on and it is causing problems. This is the second screen that this has happened with. How do I fix it?

Did the digitizer you purchased have the Home button included or did you have to transfer the home button from your cracked digitizer?

If the replacement screen came with the Home Button installed, then this is a quality issue and you should take it up with iFixit Support. If the replacement screen did not have the HB pre-installed, then you need to clean off the old adhesive from the previous HB bracket and apply fresh, strong adhesive to insure it holds the button in place tightly.

You can order an extra one of these and cut out what you need or order a kit from Bowler Tech that includes the tape cutouts for the HB bracket.

I appreciate the help Minho, however I found that the button was not the problem. The screen kept glitching by exiting apps and changing by itself. I thought that maybe i installed it incorrectly and so I took it apart and put it back together again a few times but it never solved the problem. Only just recently I purchased a new screen on amazon.com from fixcracked and installed it that the problem went away. So, I am thinking it was the defective screen from ifixit.com ghat caused the problem. Which seem plausible since I had purchased another screen at the same time and it doesn’t seem to work either since it does not register touch. I have also taken it apart and put it back together in case it was incorrectly installed but it does not fix the problem, so I’ll juat buy another screen from fixcracked and not purchase from this website again.

The ghost touching is caused by one or both of the following:

- Digitizer cable was not folded inwards to avoid pinching the cable between the iPad metal frame and screen glass

- Yellow kapton tape was not added to the bottom border of the touch screen.

There is some answers on the iFixit answers that go through this problem in more detail.

Good point @benjamen50 .

All vendors have duds on their hands. QC is about randomized sampling and testing so some bad stuff will always slip through. If you had contacted iFixit at the time, they would have gladly sent you a replacement. However, if you have had good success with another vendor, that's great too!

iPad digitizer quality has really improved in the last year or so, with many vendors offering pre-applied Tesa Tape, tape to mask the bottom border, properly secured Home Buttons etc.
