Keurig 2.0 looses pressure and spews grounds

Received a Keurig 2.0 for Christmas. Used it "2" times, got error message ..."use maintenance tool"...

Used tool, cleaned it etc and problem persisted.

Keurig sent me a new machine. Used new machine for 1 week and am having the same problem.

Before everyone starts jumping in about seals and gaskets...

I've used several different k-cups, this has happened to TWO NEW machines

It appears that this is a result of soft water. If you have a water softener/conditioner, the grounds get gummed up. Even though our water goes through the softener then a purifier.

The grounds get “iodonized”.

I thought this was ridiculous but since I have used bottled water I have had no problems.

Additional note: I did have to clean the needles. I used a paper clip.

Even though I had only used it twice it was gummed up.

We have the same problem, grounds everywhere, we have a water softener. I run out water through a purifying pitcher, grounds every where!

I have the same problem but it only happens to the half calf green mountain. We replaced our older Keurig because of the problem with half calf with a new 2,0 and the same thing happens as the older Keurig. We tried a different box of Half Calf with a different lot number and it worked. It has to be the way they manufacturer the pods

This is ridiculous. I can't believe I spent a lot of money on my coffee maker only to be told I can't use my tap water. Now I have to buy water for this coffee maker? Where is the brilliant mind who designed it? Obviously not making coffee in a normal house. Are all Keurig coffee makers allergic to soft water or just this one?

I had this problem -- and found that the problem was with the pods themselves. At first, I assumed it was my coffee maker... after all, how can they screw up a K-cup?

I called Keurig tech support.... she walked me through cleaning out the needle, etc. But... the problem continued. She thought that maybe the machine was defective.

But, in the process, I noticed that the problem began with a new box of K-cups. With tech support still on the line, I checked my theory... yes... the problem only happened when I used pods from that box of Green Mountain Half-Caf.

Since the tech-support experience, I repeated it around a dozen times with that box (of 32 pods). The sludge only occurs with pods from that one box... but never with the others.

So, one piece of advice that might work--- If you get sludge, clean out the grounds by running a cup of plain water... and then, try a pod from a different box. I've had some problem-free Half-Caf boxes in the past, but that one box was a problem.

We have had same issue with several different types of pods. Green Mountain seems to be the worse but there are others as well. Right now we have Kristy Kreme Smooth blend pods that are slow dripping but Starbucks pods that work great.

I agree with this. I bought a variety pack of pods my machine would have issues with Ekos and Green mountain brands. All others worked fine.

We have the same problem with a 2.0. So we tried an experiment and put a small strainer under the flow and noticed we got clean coffee till the very end when a bunch of grounds flooded out. We took the foil off the used kcup and found the internal filter was tore allowing the grounds out. The filter seems to be made very thin and tears very easily. The filter is high in the pod and not anywhere near the needles. This was with the mc cafe pods, 2 different boxes bought weeks apart.

Same problem with “two” 2.0 Keurigs. Only with Green Mountain Half Calf and the McCafe. I had purchased the 48 count box of Half Calf, but the McCafe was the 10 count. I gave up on the McCafe, but I’ve never had any trouble with the 12 pack boxes of Half Calf. Maybe the 48 count was old or something. Still filtering the grounds out of the Half Calf until I run out. Going to stay with the 12 count Half Calf in the future.

I have a similar problem with donut shop medium roast 48 count. I have cleaned the K 2.0 several times. Without success. Reading through the comments above I am going to try a different box.

My husband uses Folgers and has no issues. I use McCafe and mine make a mess. I bought one of those k-cup universal reusable filters. I open my k-cups and dump them into the filter and no issues. It’s a bit more work but at least I don’t have to pitch the remaining of the 48 count box!

Just wanted to add that in my case it's definitely the pods/cups - specifically Copper Moon for me: but only the "flavored" coffees, like the Pumpkin Spice, the Hawaiian one and the Christmas one. Got so many grounds in the cup that it was undrinkable. I have only had the brewer 2 months. This morning while brewing the pumpkin spice one the pot kept shutting off. Restarted it twice and it would fill the cup a little bit and shut off: the power would shut off. I tried a different outlet and when I opened where the pod was to restart with the same pod and water and very fine grounds came spewing out! I knew then it was the pod at fault. I plugged the brewer back into the original outlet, ran a plain cup of water then tried a different coffee type, just a plain French Roast and it worked fine! My theory is that the pods with "flavors" have too fine of grounds to work in my brewer? Whew! Thought I had a bunk brewer when it's just the coffee pods. I have the Keurig K-Classic.

I had the same problem with the Green Mountain brand pods. I always order my pos through Amazon. The order usually comes in separate boxes, but this time they were all dumped in one big box. I had grounds overflowing in to the cup at the very end of the cycle. I thought the machine was dirty so I cleaned it and still had the same problem. We actually have two machines and the second one worked okay. I was deciding wether to buy a new machine sure that it was a faulty machine. Today the same thing happened with the second machine, that tells me it’s the pods. I’m going to try a new box today and verify the problem. This has been really frustrating. I wish everybody luck in resolving this issue.
