Installed new power port and Tablet won't turn on, why?

We changed the power charging port following your directions. Great install instructions and no problems. Tablet displayed large green android icon and message "downloading, don't turn off target device." In upper left, displayed message regarding "odin mode." After looking for the answer to that situation, we allowed the battery to completely discharge, then recharged to 100%. Tried holding the power and volume simultaneously. No luck. Still won't reboot and only image now is the full battery. Do you have any suggestions?

why did you let the battery discharge when it was only in odin mode, you only had to hold the power button down to turn it off and turn it back on, it would only download if you were trying to reinstall the firmware. try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it

We replaced a bad power port. "Odin problem" began after we installed the port. The" hold power button" and other button combinations didn't work. We tried letting the battery discharge instead of removing/disconnecting it. How do you disconnect the battery?
