Home button not working after LCD repl. Touch ID still works

Hello All.

I replaced the screen in my 6S Plus yesterday and went from having a fully functional phone to a nearly useless lump.

The replacement screen works, however my home button no longer functions. Normally I would believe that I damaged a ribbon cable or the like, however the touch ID function on the button still works.

Has anyone encountered this issue before?

Thanks!

as a heads up, the ribbon cable is essentially a flat combination of parrallel wires. if you tear a part of it, (not all the way through) then only PART of the functions will cease. which could make the two pins that control the button circuit may be knicked, without damaging the FP scanner.

You will need to take a closer look at the Home Button, especially the flex cable as well as the Home Button Link extension which runs underneath the backlight of the screen assembly. As you suggest, you may have damaged one of the flexes or the connectors. It really doesn't take much damage, a small tear or a missing or damaged pin is all it takes.

the screen comes with a flex that runs UNDERNEITH the grounding panel, between it, and the LCD. that extension flex often comes with either a flaw in it, or acquires physical damage via many different possible sources; handling, shipping, ESD, etc. This flex, the majority of the time, may cause the home button to stop functioning. the problem is likely this flex, if you have fully inspected the home button for any possible damage to the flex.

THIS BEING SAID, there is also other possibilities.

there may be ESD to the home button from the repair, if the proper precautions were not met. (antistatic environment)

There may be damage to the home button connector or board circuit from mishandling the device. (such as using the screwdrivers to pry off connectors, or working on the device without removing the battery.)

There may be a problem with hardware recognician. (restarting the device may fix the issue if the device was booted before being fully assembled)

No You have not damaged any cables. Apple Disables home button feature after a 3rd party repair. Its for security reasons.

I would say replace the home-button or turn on "on screen home button"

Hope i can help!
