Ge profile ice maker inlet chute freezing up

The inlet chute on my ice maker fills up with water, freezes, then clogs up and overflows water to the bottom of the freezer. Both the ice maker and water inlet valve have been replaced. It almost seems like too much water is allowed into the ice maker. The icemaker does make cubes although small. I am at a loss as to what else could be wrong. Any ideas?
