Had no backlight. Replaced Backlight Driver and now NO POWER

I had water damage on my motherboard. Cleaned it up and got everything to work except the backlight. I replaced the LP8550 Driver chip and now I HAVE NO POWER AT ALL :(. Please help. Is it possible I burnt something else out? How do I check?

That would indicate bad soldering to me as in you may have some bridged connections under the LP8550. Remove it and see if you have any pads bridged. If not, see if it powers on without the LP8550. Also did you check the feedback ball of the chip before replacing it? Plenty of questions for you if that fixes the power problem lol.

Ha! I am really new to this and I am obsessed. I will check at some point tomorrow and leave a reply. I appreciate your answer. I am fascinated with learning about board repair. I did not check the feedback ball before replacing it..

First of all, no backlight doesn't mean the backlight driver only. There is backlight switch, sensors, current controllers, coils and booster all need to accounted for the backlight. Why the backlight driver was bad? Which component was shorting the power ? what about the pads? Have you double check the driver orientation>

Seem like YT videos seem to be easy jobs but in reality. So you need to back trace from the orientation of the chip first.
