My Whirlpool dishwasher is stuck blinking 'Start' and 'Cleaning'.

My Whirlpool dishwasher (WDF750SAYM2) is stuck blinking 'start' and 'cleaning'. When I push Cancel the Start button flashes. There is water in the bottom and the dishwasher will not complete a washing cycle. It does not respond to diagnostics mode. Also if I close the door it seems to just start a wash cycle but never finish. If I press cancel nothing happens. I have to open the door to stop it and water is left in the bottom.

It did go into diagnostics a bit back with a 6-6 indicating cool water or turbidity sensor but later started this blinking the start/cleaning nonsense before taking any action. I replaced the main electronics board through someones recommendation but it did not help, it was deflating because immediately after completing the swap and powering on it just started the same start/washing blinking. I cannot see any shorting on the heating element and the water coming in is hot enough.

Over the past year I have replaced the water inlet valve and everything worked great for a bit after that. Then I had to replace the drain pump which did in fact have a broken fin and this had things up and running for months.

It there a pattern to the blinking or does it blink a specific number of times?

tarafından

If the door is open is just continues blinking indefinately. If the door is closed the normal/start/washing lights are solidly illuminated. If I press any button it blinks three times other than the cancel button in which the start button blinks three times.

That sounds like child lock lol

Well the lock light is not on and either way once the door is closed it just runs the wash cycle forever until I open the door. If it's the child lock I would be ecstatic though. I just went and tried and holding the lock button for 3 seconds does lock it and doing again removes the lock.

Hi,

Perhaps the earlier indication of a turbidity sensor problem and now a "clean" error indication may be linked.

The turbidity sensor measures the amount of soil in the water. If it is saying to the control board that the water is too dirty (even if it isn't dirty) it may stop the process or not even allow it to start.

Just a thought.

Sounds to me like it wont drain, check the pipe with a flashlight and if you find a clog of butter, smack the pipe with your flashlight a few time while sucking on it with a shop vac, mainly after getting it drained out and cleaned in the guts area of the sump, the turbidity sensor is like a ppm meter, it reads how dirt the water is basically and some have a built in thermistor that has todo with the heat system. Try shuting the power to it down while removing the water and cleaning the sensor head.

Sounds like the control board is bad.. bosch dishwashers that have the time displayed, they fail often by staying on 1 minute for ever.

So it's a whirlpool, but either way, is control board the main board or the actual button interface? I just replaced the main board and it did not have an effect.

New turbidity sensor is installed and I am still having the same issue. If I close the door the blinking is the same but if I hit cancel 1 time it seems to start a cycle or diagnostics. Never finishes, cant cancel cant do much..
