Disk Drive Not Reading Data Disks

My disk drive has suddenly stopped reading data disks. It will still load and read DVDs, but when I insert a data disk it spins for 6-7 minutes before telling me I've inserted a blank disc. Help!

You can try a cleaning disk. Replacing the drive is very expensive and I usually recommend getting an external optical drive that will move to your next machine such as the LaCie: http://www.lacie.com/us/products/family....
