Why does my Subwoofer and Amp only work when the car door is open?

So I just installed a 500W Jensen Amp and 12 inch JL audio subwoofer in my 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport but the sub only kicks on when the car door is open? My model doesn’t have Active Noise Cancellation so why is this happening? Any ideas would be helpful
