Replacing Sanyo DP50747 Powerboard - Help Appreciated!
Hello everyone!
I recently bought a used Sanyo DP50747 TV which the owners had for a year and then the picture stopped working for them. They took it to a electronics repair store which said that the "motherboard" would have to be replaced, to quote the previous owners. They were were quoted at $300-800 or so for labour and parts.
So I cam along and picked it up for $15 from them and found a used powerboard for under $100 (no such thing as a motherboard), and now need to know if there is anything I should know before opening up the TV and replacing the powerboard.
Is it pretty straightforward? Is there a manual I should refer to? Should I do any tests on the parts? Is there anything I should be careful about doing? Anything specific to repairing plasmas, as I've never done this before...
Any input would be appreciated!
P.S. I know this article was posted on iFixIt, but there really wasn't much there:

Mark, motherboard, logic board and main board all mean the same thing.

Hey ABCellars, thanks for the info. So just wondering if nothing shows up on the display would you think it would be the Logic board or the Power board?

Oh brother. I took apart the casing and found that the power board that I bought to replace the other one (though that may not be the issue), is different.
I don't understand. The one in the TV is the aax30284301, but the one I bought was for the same TV and is identical to the one in this iFixit article: Sanyo dp50747 Plasma TV fuse replacement and power board check. It's model # is: LJ44-00132A. So they are for the same TV but different. I don't know what to do.
I guess I'll wait until I get the motherboard (or main board as it's referenced in the service manual) before I try anything else.

Mark I would proceed the same way as you have planned. Start with the power board that way you have a starting point. You will know that it is a good one. Going by second and third hand info is what makes repairs expensive since you go by what somebody else was told....I'd go power board than logic board. Did you check the flowchart for the fault finding in the manual?

Hi again oldturkey03, as mentioned I would have replaced the power supply "just in case", except that the one I got and the one I got to replace it have a different P/N. I purchased a LJ44-00132A which I researched was supposed to fit this TV, but the one inside it is a aax30284301. I also checked the flow chart and it says if there is no video whatsoever that the logic board should be checked. One thing that had me confused was that in this picture on iFixit (http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/wf3Gj...), it says the logic board is what is outlined, but I believe the logic board is UNDERNEATH it. It has the big black square which is the CPU(?), like on computers. This is what the logic/mother/main? board looks like I believe.
