If the phone is getting abnormally warm, then something inside is causing an excessive current draw (hence heat). This will be due to a failed or partially failed component, be it modular or board level.

One thing you could try is to disconnect everything except the lightning port and battery (always disconnect the battery first though) and then connect the phone to an iTunes enabled computer. If it doesn’t boot or get recognized, then you most likely have a logic board issue, which would require a micro-soldering repair.

Is there a way to do this without having to take the phone apart?

Right now I don't have the tools to do this, and all the stores are closed due to the recent quarantine, and honestly, I don't want to mess up my phone by opening it up, because I don't know what I'm doing.

iPhones 7 Plus or any other iPhone overheating did not cause any problems until iOS 14.6 was installed, so it looks like a software or app glitch. Once Apple releases an update, the issue will be fixed.
