I bought the speaker a few weeks ago and I've been using is quite frequently.
I never charged it fully the first time and I've just been charging it until the 5th LED has been blinking.
I tried to get it to full charge today charging for more than 4 hours and this resulted in the LEDs turning off all together. Does this mean it is fully charged?

Usually this is the case. The LEDs will flash while it is charging and then turn off when it is done. Odd behavior, I know. Especially while it’s connected to a power supply.
To check the battery level, press the volume up or down button while it’s not charging or playing music. The row of LEDs will light up momentarily, corresponding to the battery level.
There’s also a phone app from JBL that will give you more information and control over your speaker.

My JBL extreme is stuck at the 4 led blinking but when I turn it on it's at the fifth led is that some I should worried about?
I have the same problem
I had the same problem, sent it back for repairs, still have the same problem and when I called JBL they were extremely rude and told me my warranty had just expired and to send it back again and they would fix it this time for a charge. I argued with them I just sent it back under warranty and they responded too bad and hung up on me. It worked fine when I bought it. Now I never get a full charge because the lights are all messed up. Last JBL product I buy. 250.00 down the tubes.
Replace the battery. I had the exact same rude experience with JBL customer service. I replaced the battery on my charge and boombox. Both working again.

XTreme: There's a tiny white light on the bottom, inside the plastic trim. It blinks when charging. It wasn't obvious and took a while to locate.

How do I know if my JBL speaker is fake ? Because all the tips I did and none of them work so how do I know when it is charged or not because the lights don't go down and when i press the volume button while not playing music it does nothing

First clue is usually the weight. fakes are much lighter! the logo is either different in color or written differently or its not where it should be. then of course if you turn it on you will hear the difference immediately
Depends who you purchased it from? If you buy it direct or from a reputable store it will be authentic like anything else. If you buy it from ebay or refurbished, or on craigslist, ect, um, not a good idea.
I bought a jbl Xtreme and I discovered that the battery was faulty and I changed it to a new battery

Just finished replacing battery. Ran it down to flashing red led. Turned it off and plugged in charger, was not charging, tested charger and charger is faulty. Looking for charger all I find are 19v@3.4A units for Extreme and Extreme2. The charger I was given was only 12v @ 750mA by my friend.
This is somewhat perplexing in that battery is 7.4V@5000mAh. Does internal circuitry knock 19v down to 7.4v ?

How did you replace the battery on your own?
That's a tough one since this particular speaker isn't really designed to be accessed (I tried before I tossed mine out).

Same thing happened to me.
While it's a nice little speaker that I enjoyed, the USB-B charge port was very poorly placed. It's a speaker that rolls and JBL chose the worst possible usb plug to charge it.
You could try wiggling the cable a teeny tiny bit up or down, hoping the pins make contact, but it's pretty much on life support at this point as there is no real permanent fix.
Keep your eyes open for another bluetooth speaker if you haven't already.
Wow, and here I thought i was getting a bit better with JBL/Harmon. What a mistake. First my JBL Link 10 charger port started to fail. Why? the charger port is cheap and poorly placed. Had it less than a calendar year. Would my extended warranty cover it? Didn't buy one, but as I understand from many other boards about this brand, it wouldn't have done a thing as JBL/HARMON refuse to respond. Go out on eBay and you can buy just about every other replacement part except for this. Why? Cuz EVERYONE ELSE has the same problem and they too needed replacement charger ports. Now this new model i got from my father is having this led light not showing a charge at all. Once shy, Twice screwed over by JBL for the last freaking time.
