According to Mactracker the maximum ram for your computer is 8 GB if its a MBP. However I don't see a 13" MBP and the Macbook 13" max ram is 6 GB. actual---Apple says 4GB.

Hi, I have the same macbook and I successfully installed 8GB ram.
If you're renewing your device, then the next thing I'd recommend would be to discard the dvd drive and install an ssd in pair with the classical HDD.
