Touch screen not working after replacement

I replaced the touch screen on IPhone 3G according to video and connected ribbon cables accordingly. Phone turns on but slide to unlock still does not work even after opening it up again and reconnecting all cables. I have also done a hard reset but still no luck with touch screen picking up my touch. Any ideas?

reopen the phone inspect cable end of digitiser and the motherboard for dirt/damage...give it a quick dust to get rid of anything you can't see, and reconnect the cable 2...it makes a secure pop or click type noise when it's on properly. other than that make sure you have the right part and try hard reset after you've reconnected.

+ Makes my heart warm when you talk like that. All the right words using all the senses to fix something. Most people only include visuals and leave out words describing sounds etc... when it is put together right.

I like the keep it simple stupid (kiss) way of thinking..i was a beginner once and dazzled by all the posts out there using big terms and abbreviations, have no idea what they were on about...not much help when you're starting out. Never forget where you come from!x

Something that also helps with some connection issues is transplanting the small piece of foam rubber sticker from the top of the connector of the old digitizer and putting it on the new one, it usually has an orange sticker with a number on it.

If there's nothing wrong with the connection then it usually works without the foam piece, but the piece will sometimes give it that extra pressure when closed to help.

Also, when removing that foam sticker make sure you peel from underneath the sticker not in the middle of the foam. Get in between the sticker and metal of the top of the connector.

Chris Cooper is absolutely right. Most new digitiser replacements come without any soft foam padding on the connectors. These are sometimes essential for keeping the #3 connector down and steady. Keep your broken parts for these and other things like visual comparison. Ever had a good look at a 3G connector and a 3GS?
