iPhone7 will not start up after display replacement

So I do some word-of-mouth at-home phone repairs, and my latest repair has been the iPhone 7. I ordered the replacement screen, but I did have to transfer over things like the camera/sensors/top speaker, along with the home button, and the aluminium plate. Went well with no signs of any damage aside from having to cut something off to get the plate off (I hate Y000 screws so much!).

Plug everything back in (in the safest order), press the power button - nothing. Press the power button and volume down button for 10 seconds. Nothing.

The taptic engine does vibrate when I press the home button when I power the device on - this indicates to me the device is turned on. But the screen is still black. And the battery is charged - power readings show current went down to 0A.

Any clues on how I can get the device to start up?

check the battery connector is fully seated in the socket, plug the device into a power suply for a few hours and see if it charges, may be the battery, may be the board, may be a connector. if it worked 100% prior to the repair, and you were careful then it wont be anythign too serious, may just be a cable not seated correctly.

If you have a magnifying glass or soimething similar check the pis on the board for the battery and the battery connector its self.

Although the battery connector can behave a bit loose at times, I hold it down firmly when powering up the device along with any of the other connectors (until I have to put the plate back over the top of them). It has been properly charged, and I can't be sure what other variables to eliminate except to exclude the battery and screen.

Gave it an up close look. Connectors look perfect.

Hi,

First of all i would try an other Display (maby the old one) to verify that the new Display isnt the Problem.

Second thing i can think of is that you can blow the (i think) backlight Filter if you didnt diconnect the battery before changing the Display. Try to clean the diplay, turn the Phone on and then shine with a light in a sharp angle on the display, if you can see the LCD the backlight on the board is probably broken.

I have tried switching the old one back on, even if it doesn't include the home button or speaker. It had worked without the home button before I made the full transfer, but now neither screens work. I paid attention to the instructions to be careful with the power, so I don't think I would have shorted anything.

I have tried hard, but no sign of the LCD itself. But I can tell it is still on thanks to the vibration.

Turns out the issue was a faulty screen. Both of them just aren’t working for some reason. I got another one (OEM grade this time, but more expensive) that worked fine. But that does lead me to another question:

Could something have happened to damage the replacement screen, and then the old working (but fractured) one?

I’m wondering if I have a strong enough case for the screen being faulty, or if somehow I may have caused the problem.
