Blackish “waves” on screen after battery replacement

I just finished putting a replacement battery in my phone which was pretty straightforward and it went well enough, but after reassembly I’m left with black waves or circular wrinkles like a water droplet wave in my iPhone background. It is mostly noticeable on white backgrounds and seems to move or disaapear when I press on the glass? I’ve reattatched / inspected the plugins 3 times and cleaned the inside of the phone but it remains. What would this be? Thanks.

I've been inside most of the iPhones Apple manufactures although I have as yet to get under the hood of the new ”X”. Most of the problems I've found where video distortion is the issue can usually be found with the digitizer itself. Yes, it's possible to improperly reinstall the ribbon cable connector for the digitizer panel though it shouldn't have been necessary to do so in the first place for a simple battery replacement. I would recheck this connection for sure, but my next move would be a replacement digitizer!

Thanks for the answers and I’ll tear it open again once I get home from work, I don’t think it would be anything pushing on the screen because if I don’t snap the screen in and start the phone the wrinkles are still present

Also when I push on the screen it goes away, and slowly returns when I stop pushing

Did your battery come with a little spongy pad on top of the connector?

Yes, although it seemed to cause the metal bracket to sit at an angle

Ok so if you were to look at where the waves show on your phone, is it anywhere close to where the battery connects to the logic board under the screen?

tarafından

It’s more toward the center of the phone as far as left/right goes but it is on the same level vertically

Maybe a thumbs width away?

I would first start by removing that spongy material and replacing it with either Kapton or electrical tape. For some reason, the spongy material on replacement batteries is harder and thicker than what Apple puts on their batteries. I personally have had this issue and that fixes it. But while you're back in the phone, double check that your battery is sitting flush under the screen and it's flex sits between the battery itself and the left side of the logic board.
