One repair lead to another issue

I just recently worked on an iPhone 7plus because the speaker was not loud enough. So I replaced and and nothing. Still had the same issue. What stroke me was the fact the after I closed it back up the home button was not working. Thing is that I didn’t even touch anything there! All I did was unscrew the top (the speaker bracket) and placed the new one in. I didn’t remove the screen or unplugged the lcd from the logic board (the phone was turned off tho) cuz I figure “why take the whole thing apart if I have acces to the speaker without having the need to do that?” Maybe that was the mistake?? Can anyone tel me why it the home button wouldn’t work if nothing was done to it period?

Probably due to you didn’t remove the screen. The screen flex cable is too tight and easily gets torn when you try to work on other areas. You cannot open it more than 90 degrees and you have to put it on a specialized fixture to prevent it moving about and tear the cable.

You might have knocked the connection loose, bumped something on the board, or put too much stress on the flex cables while having it open and working on it. I’d inspect the board around the connections, the connections themselves, and the LCD flex cables.
