No power on, but charging is working

I have ASUS N76V and it is not possible to power on. When I connect the AC adapter, the battery is charging (orange LED is light). But when I press the switch button, nothing happens. I tried to replace CPU and RAMs. I bought a new logic board and there is the same problem. I do not know what can be wrong. Thank you for help

Hi ,

Don’t know your laptop but I’m wondering if there is a problem with the Power switch on the laptop.

Can you use an Ohmmeter and test it for continuity when the button is pressed? Disconnect the switch from the motherboard before you try this.

Here’s a link to a video that shows how to dis-assemble the laptop so that access to the Power switch pcb is possible (although given that you have replaced the motherboard you probably know how to dis-assemble it already).

If the power switch is faulty here are the part numbers for the Power switch pcb for the various Asus N76V models

N76VM and N76VZ : 90R-NALPS1000Y

N76VJ :90NB0040-R10030

N76VB : 90NB0130-R10020

if you search online using the part number only there are results for suppliers of the part. Not all the part numbers were getting results for suppliers.

If you are in Europe, try this link (change the model number to suit - box #4), select “Sub board” category and find the Power switch pcb

Hello,

the ohmmeter test is exactly the test, what did I do. The ohmeter was beeping, when I pressed the button, So I think it works.

Hi,

Since you replaced the motherboard, CPU and RAM that doesn't leave too many other things to try.

Have you measured the voltage output of the adapter to ensure that it is the correct voltage or tried a different adapter?

Have you tried starting the laptop with the battery removed and just the adapter connected and switched on?

tarafından

Hi,

I think the same.

No, the voltage I dont measure, but adapter should be new.

I tried starting the laptop whith AC only, Battery only and together. Nothing works.

Hi,

It doesn't hurt to check if the adapter voltage is OK if only to eliminate it as a possible cause.

It should measure 19VDC.

tarafından

Ok, I will check it and I will let you know.
