MacBook isn't turning on and no charger light. What can cause this?

Macbook Air (Early 2015) is not turning on and no charging light. It is not the cable because it charges my other Macbook and I have already tried reseting the SMC(it did nothing). So I know I am going to have to fix some hardware but I don’t know what is wrong. BTW I do not have the tools to go inside it so thats why I am asking so I can get the right ifixit package.

Update #1

I replaced the I/O board it was definitley part of the problem now I hear the fan but still no power light. My screen also has a low battery symbol that flashes. I reset the smc and my mac booted but it didn't have any battery life and was stuck at zero. I unpluged the cord and everything turned off. Now I only have a flashing no battery symbol and I cant boot it anymore. I heard that the charging light can be caused by the I/O cable is this true? Can a bad I/O cable cause it not to boot normally or is that another problem? Edit: I just found out that it only boots when I/O cable is disconnected and battery is disconnected if I plug in either one then it turns off. Is it normal for the fan to run high when there is no battery or I/O cable is connected?

Update #2 I replaced the battery and it did nothing. I also tried reseting everything again and it didn’t change anything. There is something wrong with the logic board since everything else was replaced.

If there’s no light on the magsafe connector it can be caused by a faulty dc in board but it could also be caused by a bad communication to the SMC. First check if the magsafe tip and the magsafe connector are in good shape, no burned pins, or small metallic debris stuck in the port. I would also swap the dc in board with a known working one. For more trouble shooting you’ll need a tech to check it out.

I took the I/O Board out is there anyway to test if it is the cause before buying a new one. Should I look anywhere else?

here’s some reasons to cause this

  • water damage
  • needs a new battery
  • or something else.
  • or you can go to Apple to ask what is going on. Also, the screws you need to open it is the P5 Pentalobe screws.
  • MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Battery Replacement
  • you may not need to replace the battery but here’s the guide just in case.

Ok I went to apple and they wanted to charge me $500 before they even looked inside so I denied them and they did not say what was wrong. I never spilled anything on the macbook so its the battery or something else. The first thing that came to my mind was the battery but I looked online and some sites say it may be the logic board. I will just have to troubleshoot when the tool arrives. Thank you for responding.

It's the logic board, if you want it fixed you'll need to go to a reputable repair store that does micro-soldering on MacBooks. Louis rossmanns YouTube channel has plenty of videos showing how to fix liquid damaged MacBooks.

I never spilled anything on it or have had any liquid on it.

I just pointed some reasons that may have occurred.
