My Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II won't turn on

I haven’t used my Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II for about 6 months. It was working perfectly before I put it away.

I put in a battery in the camera, it cannot be turned on.

It has different behaviors when I try to turn the camera on with different batteries.

  • Old Canon original battery (measured 12.6V) - the top screen flashing an empty battery.
  • Relatively new 3rd party battery (measured 13.4V) - nothing happened.
  • Canon DC Coupler with Adapter (measured 13.4V) - nothing happened.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Pull out the battery unit and on the top wall of the chamber is a small CR2025 battery which holds your settings. I would replace it.

Depending on how often you’ve recharged the battery packs they be worn out. What does the charging dock unit tell you the batteries condition?

Thanks Dan,

I try with a new CR2025 battery but still do not work.

I know the condition of my NP-E3 battery is not good but the Canon DC Coupler with Adapter should be in a good working order.

The odd thing is that using a lower voltage battery (12.6V) the camera showed an empty battery, using a higher voltage battery (13.4V) or DC Coupler with Adapter (13.4V) the camera showed nothing.
