Is there a compatible eGPU for this iMac?

This question is probably not suitable for this forum (unrelated to repair) but I’ll ask it anyway because this forum is one of the more helpful forums existing.

I currently use a Mid-2010 iMac as my main machine and the graphics card is not great unfortunately. This iMac does not have a Thunderbolt port or Thunderbolt support and it appears that Thunderbolt support is necessary for eGPU support on this machine.

Does an eGPU exist for this machine? I looked on Google for a while and I had no luck finding a compatible eGPU.

Sadly, your system is just to old.

Your system only has an 800 FireWire external interface which while being fast would not offer enough throughput to be very useful for any motion work via a eGPU.

Your best bet is to find a used 2012 iMac if you really want an external GPU solution.

But before we go that route what are you looking for?

Yeah unfortunately I don't really have the money for a used 2012 iMac at this point & will probably go the route of building my own PC later on. Thanks!
