why is does my battery say 100% but dies in 10 minutes and does only go down to 95%

Your battery is almost dead. Replace the battery because it drains too fast for iOS to notice, and if you try to do something like open an app the battery puts out more power than it can handle and shuts off.

Can I replace the battery without replacing the glass (it is broken by the bezel)
If the glass is already cracked it's very easy for it to crack more when the iPad is opened so I recommend getting the digitizer replaced at the same time.
