Fan is on high, track pad doesn't work, keyboard works, no chime
Hi!
Yesterday while on my MBP, the fan kicked into overdrive, and the track pad stopped working. The display and keyboard both work. No chime when I try resetting the PRAM. Tried resetting the SMC several times too. It takes a millennia to restart or do anything else.
Nothing has been spilled on that I can remember. Is the tracking pad causing this, or is it something else?
Thanks for the help, it’s appreciated!
Matt

You'll need to use a USB or Bluetooth mouse for now.
Lets check the battery as sometimes it will press up either damaging the cable or the trackpad its self. Install this gem of an app CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

Dan, I just picked up a USB mouse, and it's working. As far as the battery, I replaced it today.

Kernel task was at 259%, if that helps.

Please still run CoconutBattery and give us a snapshot with the new battery.
Your system is in Safe Mode one or more of the thermal/voltage sensors is telling SMC your system has a problem. I would install this app to help isolate the cause TG Pro it will allow you to see the thermal sensors and the fan's. Take a snapshot of the main window so we can see all of the sensors and fans (you'll likely need to expand the window size to get all of it to fit in the single snapshot.
Let's see what it tells us as well as CoconutBattery.
