Why can't I delete songs off my iPod from iTunes?

Recently my iPod has been glitching so that I am unable to delete songs off it via iTunes. The same goes for videos, podcasts, and, strangely, playlists. I think that it’s happened before, but somehow fixed itself. I’ve tried unsyncing music because I usually just drag to load, but nothing works. I’ve also tried going to the menu bar at the top of the Mac screen but there’s no delete option. My iPod is in pretty good condition, and apart from this and one other thing that got resolved, I’ve had relatively little trouble with it. Is this my old computer, or my iPod, or something else?

The reason you probably can’t delete them is most likely to a setting in your iTunes that is preventing it from being removed, a sync setting you have set so it auto syncs with your library, even if you per say remove it.

Go to your iTunes and turn off auto-sync and it should be able to be loaded off.

Thanks,

Austin

Okay, problem resolved! We changed the setting to manually load/manage and it seems to be working. Thanks!

I'm unable to delete the music currently on my new iPod mini. I've owned many minis and was always able to delete songs, and I recall seeing auto-sync in the past, but can't find it in my iTunes now. Where is it located within iTunes?

I was unable to delete and add music but once I read this person’s reply I knew I had to dig deep but it wasn’t too deep, I went to where the icon of my device would be beside music in my iTunes app and I saw that I hadn’t had it set up to sync anything to my iPod or to be able to delete on it but I fixed that, thank you 😊
