Why dose my iPhone5s only stuck on apple logo

My iPhone 5s was working perfectly fine then the battery died and when I put it to charge it shows the Apple logo for about 7 seconds then the screen turns red for like 2 second then off. it continues to do the same but I tried holding the power button and home button nothing happens but as I put it to charge again it shows the charger in the screen with the iTunes logo on top of it and above that is shows apple.something.recover.I don't know the full thing. I really don't know anything on i phones please help meif it is my software please tell me how to update it on a computer and dose The computer have to be apple.plz tell me my phone is only switching on and off.I tried all methods but it did not work I think it maybe my software but I do not know how to update it using my computer plz I'm a 15 year old plz help me and tell me in simple words what to do.
