Croma Earphones (EA7290 EM881J) Teardown/Repair Help.

I have these Croma Earphones with Mic (EA7290 EM881J, Black) ear phones they have stopped working and I think its a simple case of disconnected wires that need to be sodered back .However I cannot find a way to open these earphones they apper to be factory sealed however there may be a techinique i am unaware of that could aid me in opening these earphones here are a few images of the earphones.

The earbuds stopped working one after the other so i am sure that the jack is not to blame

Things i have tried

I firstly took the rubber pieces out so they don't melt or deform then i placed the earbuds on a workbench where I hanged a hairdryer directly on top of it the distance between the hairdryer and earbuds has about 5 to 10 cm I turned hairdryer to max heat output then waited for 3 minutes then I used gloves and tried really hard to pull the 2 ends of the earbuds apart but it didn't work.  the thing didnt came apart and it didnt even move and i feard if i heated it up any more the internal componets might get damaged themselfves

It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the front of it(the speaker side) has a ridge. Usually there’s a small ridge where 2 halves are sealed with glue. If you heat it with low heat with a hot air station, without damaging it from overheating, you can use an exacto knife and carefully pry it off.

Did both earbuds stop working at the same time? Or does one side still work?

If they both stopped working,it’s probably NOT the speaker part of it. As long as other earbuds work fine with your device, and as long as these earbuds used to,then what probably happened is the plug that goes into your phone actually has bad wire connection inside. You’d have to tear it apart(slice it open with a knife) to see. But it would require microsoldering to fix. You can buy a headphone jack replacement on amazon that screws closed,so you can solder the wires onto it and screw it closed over the wires. But once you cut a headphone jack,it becomes weak and useless. You have to replace it.

the part where they go into the mic can also be damaged. It’s usually the headphone jack part though.

something like this is what I’m talking about replacing

https://www.amazon.com/Ancable-Replaceme...

again,it’s hard to solder this crap on unless you have lots of practice.

Thanks for the reply, both of the earbuds don't work however they stopped working one by one, so I am sure the jack is not the problem. you might be right about the ridge I do feel that there is one because of the way shadows fall at that place and I didn't know that I could loosen it by using a hot air gun though I don't have one so I probably can't fix it at my home all I have is my soldering iron and some solder. thanks for the reply anyway I will update the pictures with a much clearer version later.

Ok. No problem. Just so you know it can still be the headphone jack. It really is the thing most likely to break. I’ve seen this many times in my brother’s earbuds. There are 4 wires coming from from the jack. 1 ground,1 mic,1 left, and one right. If one stops working, there’s a good chance of the other wire breaking too,as if one wire breaks,it indicates there’s stress at that point, which can damage other wires too.

You can use a hair dryer or even a space heater to warm it up a bit, which can be better than nothing at all. You can use super glue to put the speaker halves back together. It’ll look fine if you do it right.

If you get it opened, you could use another pair of earbuds and swap speakers. If the problem persists, you’ll know it’s not the speakers.

Hi again, I tried to use a hair dyer my sister had but the earbud didn't come off I thought maybe it need some more head to I kept heating it from a close distance for 3 minutes and it got so hot that I had to use gloves to try and pull it but even the thing didn't even budge a little I think that I need some other method to open it because I tried to do it with some other earbuds and they opened up really easily in 30 seconds or so. Or it could be that I am doing something wrong. Here were the steps I did. Sorry for unaccepting your answer but I really want to repair these ones

No problem.

Max heat can melt the plastic inside: the speaker has plastic as the cone that moves.

I really don’t think it’s the speakers, but I could be wrong of course.

If you open the middle part where the mic is and the other wires, you can see if they’re damaged in there. There should be 4 wires going in to it,and 4 coming out...the ground should split into 2 on the out.

You can check both sides of the little PCs and see if the solder joints look weak.

You can take an old pair of earbuds you don’t need and cut off the headphone jack and the wire(snip the wire with enough length),and solder those wires into where they go into the mic part. This would knock out variables of the headphone jack itself being bad(my mom’s was bad 3 days ago and I fixed it in a similar way),and also of any of the bottom wire being bad. Now,if you have a multimeter, you can measure continuity from the headphone jack metal tabs to the solder joint in the mic circuit board

Then you can see if there’s a bad connection or not. The bottom tip metal is for the left earbud, the second from bottom is for right, the 3rd is ground, and the 4th is mic. Ground connects with both audio cables through the speakers, and the mic.

Multimeters are those cheap things sold at stores like Walmart in the USA. It’s worth getting one. It measures if you have electrical connection from point a to b.
