Not charging / restarting when plugged in

My uncle sent over his iPhone 6 which died on a cheap car dock. I couldn't get it starting at all, which is why I put the motherboard in a completely working iPhone 6. It started completely fine but as soon as I plugged in a charger it freezed and almost immediately restarted. It booted fine with the cable plugged in but didn't charge at all and as soon as I unplug the cable it restarts again. I'm suspecting the Tristar Charging IC but find the behavior very strange. What are your thoughts on that?

Chances are it is related to Tristar/Tigris. What gives it away is the fact that it died on a cheap car dock. Of course, the only way to know for certain is to properly test the device. Ideally, you would want to rule out the charge port first, then look at the logic board for any signs of damage and then move onto the Tristar and charge circuit.
