Spins, and then a thud sound, before stopping with UL error code.

Hello,

I have a Kenmore 110.28102310 top load washer. Moments after it enters a spin cycle, I'll hear a thud sound, at which point it will stop spinning and display a UL code. It does this even at low spin speeds and when empty. I do see that the tub seems out of balance. Does this sound like a suspension rod issue? I'd rather save the money if it does not sound like the culprit. Thanks all!
