Wouldn't turn on. Replaced battery and it booted, but not charging.

Hello, history as title says:

I have an ipod which wouldn't turn on, so i decided to replace the battery.

With the new battery it booted but it's not accepting charge (tried usb and wall charger) and it's also not recognized in PC.

I thought maybe a faulty usb but when i connected it to my dock it was recognized (displays a message on the ipod when connected) and i could hear music from the dock speakers.

Not sure where the fault would be.

Any suggestions?
