Right side screen is darker than the left one

Dear all

First of all I couldn't find my TV model in the list so I picked the closest one

The problem is:

The screen was black with vertical gray lines, and because I'm a do it your self kinda guy I opend the TV and after a lot of YouTube and visual inspection of the t-con board I found a chip on it that has a burn marks so I ordered another board and replaced it and YES the TV works again :)

But :( the right half of the screen is darker than the left one

Now is this a faulty t-con or ribbon cable or back-light problem??

The TV model number is UE46B6000

Many thanks in advance for your help

here are some updates:

1- to eliminate any compatibility problem that was referred to by

Block Image

2- moving on to the next tip from @oldturkey03 i’ve removed the bottom protecting panel under the t-con to fully inspect the ribbon cables and surprise surprise there is water damage on the right side connector

Block Image

from screen cleaning spray i suppose

3- now before putting this fix to rest if anyone have a tip on how to order the right flat ribbon cable would be help full, don’t forget that i’m a hobbyist and this is my first TV fix :)

on the ribbon cable it says M 20861 105C VW- 1 TennRich

and i’ve counted 80 pins (which wasn’t easy :)) as for the dimensions its 42.5 x 44.5 mm

i’ve googled a bit and i found that people talking about how many volts it should handle

Does your computer system have its own monitor?

Does it look OK with it? If you don't have a dedicated display on the computer, try another monitor or TV as well.

@danj ????????????? what are you saying?

@oldturkey03 - Daif is using a Mac system with his TV if you look closely you can see the macOS menus. So... is this the primary or secondary display? Is the problem within the TV (display). Or is this a system issue? Thats why I asked as I had.

@danj

sorry if the photo is not clear but actually it's my windows laptop, I've opend a notepad to make the screen as white as possible

And yes the laptop has an integrated and dedicated graphic card

But I'll consider the compatibility issue and fiddle around with the settings

Thanks for the tip

@daif1976 - I wasn't really sure as I couldn't see the Apple logo in the far left corner. If I understand things more clearly here your TV's image from a broadcast station (over the air or cable) is clean. It's only when you connect to the your Windows laptop. So then is your laptop's image clean? If this is not correct please let us know.

@daif1976 it is not a backlight problem since it is way to well defined. Backlight issues will never leave a crisp line like that anywhere. This looks more like a T-con board/LVDS cable issue. Check your connections on the board and make sure that your ribbon cables are properly seated etc. Ultimately it is always possible that this is a panel issue but that is less likely.

@oldturkey03 - You're jumping to soon here. Could be the system Vs the TV.

tarafından

@daif1976 TV vs Mac issue easy determination. Connect a different input source other than your Mac and see if you still have the same issue.

tarafından

@oldturkey03 obviously I got everyone confused with the bad photo

tarafından

@daif1976 not really :-) anyhow lets get back to the issue at hand, your TV. Once you have had a chance to check on those things let us know what you found

So what is your question here? Do you want to get same colour for both sides?

Well, simply put

I don't know how to read the flat ribbon cable coding

With the water damage I think the socket is oké, it's just the ribbon which got damaged and needs to be replaced

So apart from that it's visually has 80 pins I don't know what other properties should I look for to find a good match

tarafından

@daif1976 clean the connector with some high grade isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush (or cotton swab etc.) Any cable that has the right amount of cables will work for as long as no wires were crossed etc. on the original. You can use a multimeter and check strand by strand for continuity. After that a ribbon cable with the right thickness, pitch (distance from cable to cable) and length would be all that is needed. Ultimately just clean the cable with the same high grade alcohol and a toothbrush should be sufficient to reuse it. Careful when you clean. The bottom ribbon cable is bonded to the connectors and can easily tear. You want to be somewhat gentle around that area.
