Has anyone disassembled and repaired one

Hello all

I picked one of these music centre devices up (LG CM9730) think it was released around 2013.

Now at the rear of the device is the speaker outputs for both speakers both LEFT & RIGHT. With four connections for each speaker.

With a HIGH & LOW connection points. Anyone who owns one or any similar high powered LG stereo system will know what I mean.

Basically I want to repair and replace two of the speaker outputs, as the terminal posts and screw caps have been broken off, probably due to over tightening at some point.

I need to get access and clearance to the main PCB board, as the speaker outputs are soldered onto the main board.

Possibly the speaker outputs are Banana Type connectors that may be bolted onto a chassis of some kind.

I believe one part number for the BLUE (Left Channel) is EAG63410801

However I’m unsure of the part number for the RED (Right Channel).

Now then, has anyone ever taken one of these machines apart before ?

If so I’d like to know the best way to do it. I have removed all visible screws that hold the side plates on. But the thing won’t come apart.

I found the service manual for the item, but doesn’t explain the best and safe way to take it apart.

Any ideas from anyone would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Update ; Many thanks to readers and responses. However I actually sorted the issue out back in Oct 2019. And was answered by myself.

Problem solved. Thread shut.

Quick update, managed to open it. Basically the sides, slide backward to release the locking pegs.

The rest is pretty straight forward. The internals are cable pin block connectors. Quite an easy system to work on.

Anyway I hope this may help some one else out at some point.

I would say that trying to source the main speaker block connectors (part number > EAG63410801) are quite difficult to find and buy.

LG themselves are difficult to deal with and won’t give any information out as to where to buy the spares from. It’s all top secret!!!

I went to CPC electronics and bought the binding posts and replaced individually.

These are the ones that fit and work properly.

Hi mate yes I have exactly the same set up, and to be honest I haven't had a problem with mine apart from the dust in the front of the speaker where you cannot take the grill off the front to dust it, but as I'm aware the speaker output connectors should be held in by the little screw in the middle so if you order a new one just undo that screw and then you might have to solder the wires from the old one to the new component it's not hard I've done it when making speakers for people pretty easy job to be honest. Hope that helps? And you won't be sorry for buying it it is super powerful. We'll good luck
