Why does my screen have green lines when turning on display?

When I turn on my S5 the screen flashes horizontal yellow, green, and orange lines, I can interact with fingerprint unlock but the screen goes dark after that initial flash so I can't see anything. At first it looked like a screen issue but when I factory reset my phone the lines disappear for some time, only to reappear a few hours later. I am really lost now, also my screen flashes with the lines when I put brightness on lowest setting.
