Mid 2015 MacBook Pro gives me orange light, fans don't spin.

Hello!

I have a mid 2015 MacBook Pro that unfortunately does not power on. Although when plugged in to a 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter, it gives me an orange light, yet the fans do not spin and the laptop does not power on. I’ve taken out the logic board to test it out with nothing plugged in. It still gave me an orange light on the MagSafe and still doesn’t give me any fan spin. I do not see any visible corrosion on the logic board.

For extra information, the logic board is an 820-00163-A board. I do not have any schematics for that particular board. I’m also using a genuine Apple 85W MagSafe 2 charger for the laptop. Also, SMC reset did not help.

Any advice I should take?

Well, its clear your logic board has a problem. This maybe a deep problem like a dead CPU or GPU chip. Its also possible its a blown power MOSFET which is an easy fix.

The issue is what is your skill set and access to the needed tools and schematics/boardview drawings to even diagnose the problem and then access the needed tools and access to the needed parts to repair it?

As you've stated you don't have the schematics/boardview drawings you'll need to do that, do you have everything else you need to fix your logic board?

Or, from a cost perspective does it make sense replacing it with either the same or better logic board for your systems series?

Or, does it make sense finding someone who can fix your system as they have whats needed.

You'll need to do the numbers to see what works for you.

Yeah, I've decided to get a new logic board for my particular MacBook because I've checked everything and I can confirm that the CPU has died. Something must have shorted that poor thing...
