Backlight issue, can I repair it?

My MacBook Pro screen is down. I can see the desktop using it with an extra monitor and using a light direct to the monitor. Is it possibile to repair it at home? Should I change all mother board?

Cesare Biuzzi  sure you can but it will depend on your skills. First you want to check the backlight fuse which would be F7700 which is a 3 A 32 V fuse in a 0603 package.

If you find that the fuse is okay check pin number 1 on the display connector. Check the whole connector and the cables for any burned, corrosion or other damage. You also want to check your complete board for anything that looks damaged etc. Use these guides MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Mid 2014 to work on it. Post some good pictures of your board with your QUESTION so that we can see what you see. Let us know if your keyboard backlight is working. If it is your LED driver will most likely be okay since both the keyboard and the screen use the same driver.

While you do have an issue here on the logic board, I’m not sure if it warrants getting a new logic board yet!

Often times the backlight driver logic needs repairs and the fuse link as well. A good tech could fix this quite easily.
