Why are the Cyan & dark Cyan cartridges dispensing too much ink?

I got a message to replace ink cartridges. I went to Office Depot & got a full set and installed them. Apparently, the cyan & the dark cyan were defective. Even though the printer said that all ink cart’s. were full & ready to go, those two colors dumped 1/2 of their ink, saturating the black felt pads under the nozzles. Now I apparently need to replace whatever receptacle the cartridges seat into because that volume of ink will not be able to be cleaned from there. Office depot, naturally, does not accept any responsibility for selling me defective cart’s. I am on my own. This is not a cheap $59.00 printer & I am not willing to simply trash it, AS THEY SUGGESTED!
