What are normal working temperatures?

Hello,

Some time ago bought this laptop. Usually I’m working in photoshop, doing some php programming, YouTube in background, few tabs in Safari.

Getting 60 - 70+ c temperatures. I had MacBook back in 2010 which was also a 15” MacBook Pro and it had same issue, it was getting hot.

So it looks like Apple cant solve simple things in 10 years?

Are my temperatures OK? I mean I switched from desktop PC, it never got hotter that 50c.

From 2016 to 2019 the 15” MacBook Pro’s have had serious thermal issues right along! I have pro’s who when in the field with their MacBook Pro’s often need to use an icebox to cool their systems when they are rendering vids! Its that bad!!

The Pro’s made a lot of noise about all of the failings of the newer models it took a long time but Apple finally released a better system a few weeks ago! MacBook Pro 16”

While I’m not recommending you jump to the newer system be aware if your systems limitations. Ultra thin systems (even the newer 16” model) suffer limitations due to their size. Desktops are still the number one system needed for deep processing like video rendering.

So what I would do is make sure your drive is not overly full. smaller drives need more free space 1/3 for smaller than 500 GB, larger drives 500 GB and larger only need 1/4 free. If your system is lean on RAM (8 GB) then this is more important for you.
