Flashing apple logo while charging

Ok so I am repairing my nephew’s iPhone 6 and when it is plugged into the charger it only flashes the apple logo for a few seconds and repeats this process over and over. It only does this with a wall adapter. Plugging it into the USB port on my computer doesn’t do anything at all.

I recently replaced the battery with a new one to see if maybe the battery was at fault and got the same results. The only difference is this time when I get it to say plug into iTunes it cuts off after unplugging it from the wall adapter. After I replaced the old battery with the new one it stayed on for a few mins with the plug into iTunes screen but it cut off while iTunes was downloading the update and started the apple logo loop all over again.

Any clues as to what I can try to get it past this point? This all occurred when the old battery completely discharged when the screen shattered. So I replaced the screen also. TYIA

That sounds very characteristic of an iPhone who's battery isn’t fully connected. Make sure the battery is firmly and securely connected. Its also worth double checking that you have the right battery for your phone, for an iPhone 6 you want to make sure it is a 1810 mAh battery.

Hope this helps! Leave a comment on this answer after you try what I mentioned

Just verified that it is definitely a 1810 mAh battery and I reseated the battery itself and still get the same thing. It may help to know that the original battery did the same thing also before this one which is what led me to buy the new battery.

So after the screen got cracked it looks like the battery went bad as well.

After changing battery and screen with the iTunes logo appearing quickly. This is usually indictive of a faulty battery corrupting the firmware / user data on the phone's memory chip.

Had this happen quite a few times from iPhone batteries going bad which then I had to replace and do either an update or restore.

Try update on iTunes first. If you get error -20 to -27 or -70 the phone must be restored and data will be wiped. Only prior backups on iTunes or iCloud will let you recover data afterwards.

If restore fails, also try doing it in DFU mode too.

Did you ever figure this out? I’m having the same issue on a 6S and don’t really want to go through steps that don’t work.
