Can't get phone to charge

Soda hot spilled in my charger cord. Don't know how long the cord was in the soda. I shook the cord out and let it sit for a little while. I plugged it in my phone. A warning message the popped up on my phone saying “ moisture has been detected in the port. Instructed me to unplug and let it dry on its on or use cool air to help dry faster". So i turned phone off. I put phone and charger cord in front of fan for like 3-4 hours. Then i turned it back on. The message had went away. I plugged it up to the charger. The message i got previously never popped up and my phone started charging. It was on 3%….well it got all the way to 80% and quit charging. Now i can't get it to charge. What should i do?

Have you tried another lead and plugged it into something like a laptop?

Was a bad idea using the same cable. Soda doesn’t really dry away from inside a port or cable and needs to be cleaned. Would have been a good idea to get another cable and not use the same one. You can also use an old toothbrush and some Isopropyl alcohol to clean the charging port and dry it out. This would have been the best option from the start but can try it out and see. If it still doesn’t work then you need to get the port checked, might need to be replaced.
