Touch input no longer working after battery replacement

I followed the iFixit video guide for replacing the old battery on my phone very carefully, and the touch screen no longer registers any input at all. The phone seems to work fine otherwise.

I’ve cleaned it out, I’ve checked for damage on the cables, I’ve re-seated the cables a couple of times. The re-insertion of the screen cables felt perfectly clean as well; it’s not like I got a bad angle and bent something or tried to force it.

I made sure it was powered down and unhooked the battery before touching the screen cables. I avoided bending back the screen more than like ~80 degrees during the process.

Everything seems perfectly fine, but for some reason the touch screen just will not work anymore.

It was golden before doing the battery replacement, and I’ve never dropped it or damaged it in any way.

None of the solutions I’ve found have worked.

This is a common fault and is caused by static from the battery if you take off the cables and put it back on and let it sit and that should fix it

Sources ? If it's "a common fault" as you say I'm sure you can supply many quotes.

I tried leaving everything disconnected overnight, but it didn't help. After plugging everything back in, the touch input still doesn't work.
