End-of-cycle lights cycle and beeps no matter what

The end-of-cycle selection (rightmost group of three buttons) allows high, low and off settings; however, no matter what else is happening, the LEDs cycle and beep quietly; sometimes that prevents a cycle starting, other times it will stop very briefly, at which time a cycle can be started. After the cycle has begun, the cycling and beeping continue. Additional note: the beeping intensifies slightly and briefly selects the “High” setting whenever any other option button is depressed. The cycling and beeping begin as soon as power is supplied and any button is pressed.

I’ve reset by unplugging machine for five or more minutes; I removed the top panel and wiggled wires and checked connectors, but no change.
