LCD screen display or Logic Board? (A1418 / 21.5")

Hello all

I have found a second hand LCD display screen for an iMac 21.5” (A1418 , late 2013) on a well know auction site.

The sellers pictures show the screen powered up but has random vertical lines showing.

Can anyone tell me whether it could be that machines logic board that’s causing the vertical lines or is it likely to be the actual display screen itself?

Thanks in advance

When ever I see bar’s on the newer iMac’s its 99% a messed up display panel due to someone not using the correct tools and techniques to remove it.

What happens is the tool was inserted to far hitting the LCD panels edge were the panels electrical connections are located severing the ribbon connections. Sometimes the damage severe other times just one or two tab points get damaged as in this case.

To validate the findings I often plug in an external display. If the external works then that’s all the proof I need its the display.

As you are looking for the part, buying a bad display doesn’t make sense! And this person has no idea or is a scammer!

I emailed the seller of the item and wasn't satisfied with their response as to how it was sourced etc. If they had tested with hdmi cable on external TV before stripping machine but they didn't. Seems to be lots of sellers online selling used iMac screens. I'm at the point now to just sell the machine I have as scrap for spares.
