Water running back into dishwasher - Kenmore Ultra Wash, #66517032403

Dishwasher had water collect in bottom that could be seen. It receded and I left it to deal with later. Then got a damp drop ceiling tile in the basement in area below dishwasher. The insulation above it wasn’t damp. Not sure if this is a red herring. Nothing has come of more wet in that area since.

Back to dishwasher: Water wasn’t visible until filter was removed; resevoir was full of water. Took out filter and blade-cover and cleaned out. There was debris including a flat piece of plastic that could have cause real blockage trouble.

Where at: If the reservoir is emptied of water (just by taking it out with a cup), it will slowly refill. I’m reticent to run it in case of trouble around the ceiling tile. The elbow of the drain hose looks fine - it has an arc to it. I guess I’m at the point of going in to look at the Stuck check valve, which is a bit of big job for me (though there are great Youtubes on it).

So… Any thoughts on:

- Next steps besides check valve?

- Drainage issue creating a leakage problem below dishwasher (though evidence for this is conflicting)? And risk of just running a cycle to see if cleaning out filter and reservoir allows things to reset themselves - maybe forces check valve back to its standard spot?

Thanks. Pic of after partial emptying and the seal that has the cut in the bottom corner.

Further info: The source of water coming is identified; it's at the bottom corner of the rubber seal that runs along the side and top of the washer. It provides the seal when the door closes.

The rubber in that corner has a small cut in it. There was some small glass bits in the reservoir when i cleaned it out - I thought it might have been part of a blockage that caused the problem, but it appears to be the cause via the cut.

Next step: Likely cut a small section from the rubber seal near the corner and glue in a replacement piece. But I'll research/ask around to ensure that's a good idea. Lemme know if any thoughts.
