GE GDT580SMF5ES will fill but it does not start.
Hey friends, I’ve got a GDT580SMF5ES GE dishwasher that today started doing this
Press start (all cycle options same symptoms) it fills with water. Then it just sits. And sits. And sits until eventually after what would be the cycle spot to drain, and it drains as usual.
Any ideas? Any more info I can offer to help diagnose.

Hi,
Check behind the kickplate (toeplate?) to see if there is a 'tech sheet" taped on there.
If there is it should show how to get into the diagnostic mode for the dishwasher so that all facets of the dishwashing cycle can be tested.
It could be that the wash pump is not operating since from what you said it seems to "step" through the cycle to the drain point. Can you hear a humming sound when it just sits there?

There isn’ta tech sheet but I think I found one and it really just showed operating normal in cycle
It never sounds like the wash pump kicks in. No hum or the normal signs.

Hi,
If you have a DMM and you know how to use it when testing for potentially lethal voltages then you may have to check if voltage is being supplied to the wash pump (aka circulation pump).
If there is mains supply voltage at the pump terminals when the dishwasher should be washing the dishes and the pump is not operating then there is a problem with the pump motor. If no voltage then there is a problem with the control board or the wiring from the control board to the pump.
Be safety aware if you go to test for this voltage. If you don't know what you're doing then don't do it! It's not worth it. Call an expert

Thanks I assumed that was the best recourse for testing so wanted to be sure before I go to that I’ll pull it out and work on it with a little room to spare for safety

Did this ever get fixed? I have the same model and the same exact issue.
