Why my Apple TV can't handle remote controlling?

Hy everyone!

I bought two days ago an Apple TV (third gen) without the original remote controller. I have two other remote controllers at home an OEM one and an aftermarket one. The problem is that after the reset and before the reset the Apple TV can't handle the remote controllers. And this is the problem with the remote controller application on my every apple device that have of course newer OS then the iOS 7. The remote controller application can’t find the Apple TV that was on the same internet connection with my other Apple device with the remote controller app.

Do you have an older IR Apple remote? See if you can turn it on with it.

Time to buy the needed Apple remote Apple TV Siri Remote. You should be able to find a used one which should be cheaper.

When I had this issue, I had to re-pair my remote to the Apple TV. Here’s a video on how to do it.

The 3rd generation uses a different remote than the first & second generation. The older one was strictly IR. The Siri versions offer dual function IR as well as Bluetooth. But once linked to the given Apple TV you can't use a different Siri remote without resetting the Apple TV using the IR only Apple remote.
